Commonwealth as the heritage consultant on a multi-disiplinary team, worked to bolster heritage-and nature-based tourism in Barbados. The promotion of heritage sites and places of natural
beauty has been made a priority by the Government of Barbados. Commonwealth's contributions included preparing proposals for the enhancement and development of more than a dozen miltiary, industrial, and domestic heritage sites; making recommendations for strengthening the nation's three leading heritage institutions; preparing an inventory of heritage tourism resources; recommending conservation standards; and participating in proposals for nature-based attractions. The team's other activities included an in-depth market analysis and a national strategy for heritage and nature tourism.
