The
Ottawa Botanical Garden Society was incorporated with the express purpose
of re-establishing a botanic garden at The Central Experimental Farm.
The society plans to integrate the existing arboretum/botanic garden and
ornamental gardens with a number of new features and attractions, education
and interpretive programs, as well as visitor and service facilities and
create an economically sustainable botanic garden.

As part of this overall
planning, the conservation and maintenance of heritage resources were
identified as important considerations. Commonwealth prepared an analysis
of the VISION Statement and a Conservation Management Strategy to provide
guidance for future

management,
interpretation of cultural features, and direction for the integration
of new development. The focus of the report includes:
~ Assessment of conservation context in

various
elements of the Ottawa

Botanical Garden Society's
VISION

Statement
~ Assurement of sensitive integration in new

development
~ Ongoing stewardship guidelines for the

Ottawa Botanical Garden
Society
